Memory Lane, Penedo

I’ve been a resident of the town of Penedo for a year now. I drive up and down this street about 2 – 4 times a day and every-time I am taken with the beauty and transported by the feelings and memories that it evokes as I drive on. I love riding down this street! Each time I take it, this street could be several places and moments from my past. Often, I feel like I am driving through arches and that on the other side I have arrived at a celebration for some stage in my life – childhood, family vacations, travels, adolescence, marriage.

Memory Lane - Penedo

This road is Rowayton as a kid on my bike, it is driving to La Gentillerie on family holidays in France, it is a getaway-weekend to Hakone, it is ‘on the way’ to Girl Scout Camp summers in CT when I was in High School, it is the Bois de Vincennes on our wedding day, it is driving home from errands with my kids in Resende… it is happiness, joy, the smell of summer, warmth, security, fresh air, comfort – it is coming home…
