Simple Pleasures, Precious Moments

I took the boys

on a long walk, down

Main Street and up

Concord Street to

Greeley Park this

autumn afternoon.

We went after nap

time and before

snack time.

Thibault carried his

Halloween bucket from

Mamie filled with

cars, a ball and

a rattle for Damien.

I carried Damien and a tote

bag with Damien’s quilt

and snack time treats.

We walked for half

an hour, Thibault held

my hand.

On the way we

passed cars, buses and

motorcycles and beautiful

Victorian homes…

When we reached

the park, we had

our snacks and Thibault

played with his

ball and Damien

stayed warm

wrapped in his quilt

from Suzi.

Then Thibault played

on the playground and

made a friend. They

climbed, and swung, and slid

and imagined.

On the way

home, Thibault collected

sticks and leaves and

counted pumpkins on the

At home, I made

soup for dinner with

Uncle Rene’s vegetables.

Mamie came home

with matching pajamas

for the boys, with feet !

They took their

baths and Papou

baby-sat so that

Mamie and I could go to

Opening Night at the

Nashua Symphony.

These are perfect

days, or almost so

if only Papa

were here

with us, too.
